OREANDA-NEWS. On May 15, 2007 the Gazprom Headquarters has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Robert Tyson, Ambassador of Australia to Russia, reported the press-centre of  Gazprom.
Mainly, the meeting was dedicated to the issues relevant to participation of a Gazprom delegation in the Business Summit of APEC countries. The Summit is to be held in September 2007 in Sydney.

The Intergovernmental Forum Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established in 1989. The participants are as follows: Australia, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Canada, People’s Republic of China, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Russia, Singapore, USA, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Chili and Japan. In 2007 the next OPEC Summit will be held in Australia which will be the Chairman of the Summit.
Gazprom’s representatives regularly participate in the OPEC Business Summits as its delegates.
OPEC Business Advisory Council (BAC) represents the interests of business groups. The BAC members of Russia over 2007 to 2009 are the representatives of Gazprom, Basic Element and VTB bank approved by the Decree of President of the Russian Federation of March 16, 2007. Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Sergey Balashov, Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations Department were appointed to the posts of Council member and alternative Council member, respectively.
