OREANDA-NEWS. On May 17, 2007 Atomstroyexport completed the final dynamic testing of the nominal capacity of the 1st unit of Tianwan NPP. The testing was successful, reported the press-centre of  ASE. Now the company is preparing necessary documents for the preliminary acceptance of the 1st unit for commercial operation. As of now the unit has produced 2,417,560 MWh. The capacity of the 2nd unit is also being tested. Now the unit is operating at 33% of its nominal capacity and has generated 7,556 MWh so far.

The contract for Tianwan NPP construction was signed in 1997. Under the contract, Russia is obliged to build two WWER-1000 power units with a total capacity of 2000 MW. This is the biggest Russian-Chinese project. Tianwan is the biggest NPP project in China. Atomstroyexport CJSC is the leading Russian organization implementing inter-governmental agreements on the construction of nuclear facilities abroad. Presently, it is the only company in the world that is simultaneously building 7 nuclear power units in China, India, Iran and Bulgaria.
