OREANDA-NEWS. On May 26, 2007 the 65th anniversary was celebrated of the Fourth Air Force and Air Defence Army, the holder of  the Order of the Red Banner whose record contains outstanding examples of courage. Today, soldiers and officers of the famous unit continue the glorious traditions of their grandfathers and fathers as they defend the skies of the Fatherland with dignity, reported the press-centre of  Rostvertol plc.

To attend the festivities, many guests came to Rostov-on-Don including the well known aerobatics teams, The Russian Knights and The Swifts. They congratulated the Order-of-the-Red-Banner holder and all visitors by demonstrating of the aerobatic maneuvers in the Rostov sky.

Taking the opportunity, the aerobatic pilots expressed their wish to visit the Rostvertol plc, the biggest southern Russian aircraft manufacturer where the already well known Mi-28N Night Hunter is in a serial production.

Attended was the company tour of the pilots by the senior deputy director-general I. A. Semionov, deputy director-general A. V. Koloupaiev and chief engineer A. A. Varfolomeiev. The latter showed the visitors production areas of the company and the whole product line of aircraft that are used both by army units and commercial sector. The pilots were informed of that the company has completed the production of the initial batch of Mi-28N consisting of 8 machines. The Night Hunters successfully underwent the shop tests and were handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The Russian aces could see the manufacturing of the attack Mi-28Ns, transport Mi-26Ts and combat Mi-24/35s and their modifications as well as the rotor-blade production including the manufacture of glass-fiber blades. The pilots have shown a keen interest in what they saw. And no wonder why. In fact, all helicopters manufactured by the company have proven in various climes succeeding in the accomplishment of their missions.

The aerobatics team members praised the high survivability and agility of the rotorcraft. Their special note was of the wide combat range of the fire power and maneuvering capabilities of the attack Mi-28N Night Hunter. The visiting celebrities highly praised the efforts of the Rostov aircraft manufacturers who continue to contribute to the ongoing technology growth of the Russian state.
