OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2007. Another memorable date of the national calendar – Textile industry workers’ Day is widely and festively was celebrated in Turkmenistan. Textile industry workers’ professional holiday, instituted in 2006, is marked on first Sunday of June, reported the Presidential website www.turkmenistan.gov.tm.

Festive activities were conducted in metropolitan Exhibition centre visited by members of the Cabinet of Ministers, Mejlis, representatives of ministries and agencies of the country, civic organizations, integrated into “Revival” nation-wide movement and also the heads of accredited in Ashgabat diplomatic missions, who came to congratulate textile industry workers.

At a special ceremony the branch’s best workers were presented valuable gifts and diplomas.

The regional largest Expo-centre exhibition of national textile products of high consumers’ demand both in the country and abroad vividly demonstrated the impressive achievements of most young and dynamically developing branch of national economy. The displayed products were presented by textile industry giants – Jeans complex, Ashgabat, Kipchak, Geokdepe, Bairamaly textile complexes. Their output –yarn, fabric, different textile products may compete with the best world analogues. “Made in Turkmenistan” label is well known in more than 30 importing countries, including USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland and etc.

As known, a new life of textile industry is associated with independence. Over fantastically short time Turkmenistan managed to establish full-fledged processing industry, including a network of modern enterprises with the newest machinery and advanced technologies producing world standard products. Their general recognition is confirmed by international certificates – ISO 9001 “Production management and quality control system”, ISO 14001 “Environment protection”, WRAP “Worldwide responsibility in ready –made garments production” and OHSAS 18001 “Accident prevention system”.

The establishment of modern textile complexes with full production cycle –from cotton processing to finished commodity production – significantly strengthened Turkmenistan’s position in the world rating of major textile producers. And if before independence Turkmenistan used to process not more than three per cent of the produced cotton now this indicator amounted forty percent. According to Ministry of textile industry of Turkmenistan the branch structure is made of 65 enterprises producing currently 173 million square meters of cotton cloth and 82 thousand tons of yarn.

It should be noted that one of the national leading industry’s priorities is development of wide mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners. Foreign investments influx into modernization of textile production enabled within a short time to increase high-quality products’ output, which is used for domestic market needs and is marketed abroad.

At present leading foreign companies participate in construction of a number of new industrial projects to significantly build up national textile industry capacity in future. Thus, Abadan cotton-spinning factory of 25 thousand tons of cotton yarn annual capacity is to be put into operation by current year end, and in Ruhabat etrap Kipchak settlement construction of a new factory for production of popular among population panne-velvet is commenced jointly with Chinese specialists. In future under the branch developmental progamme a modern complex of processing enterprises with full production cycle will be built in every cotton growing etrap of the country.

Official part of the holiday was followed by bright show, prepared by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of textile industry Fashion Centre, which presented a unique collection of clothes by the best national designers.
