OREANDA-NEWS. A diesel-electric icebreaker "Saint-Petersburg" will leave the ship-way of "Baltic Plant" OJSC at the end of summer of 2007.

During icebreaker construction the Baltic Plant uses the newest scientific developments. For example, each icebreaker is equipped with rotating steerable propellers of the total power of 16 MW. No other shipyard in Europe has built an icebreaker with steerable propellers of such power before. These propellers secure ice passability and mobility of ships and allow them develop high velocity in clean water.
