OREANDA-NEWS. Yekaterina Muyzhnek, Deputy Director for Science of MiraxBioFarma, Candidate of Biological Sciences, has won the Prize of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences named after V.S. Gulevich for Best Scientific Treatise on Biological and Medical Chemistry. The ceremony was held on 25 May in the Conference Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

As Yekaterina Leonidovna herself reported, this prize was awarded to her along with a team of very esteemed and distinguished figures of medical science, including M.A. Paltsev, Rector of the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; S.Y. Severin, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; E.S. Severin, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and professor A.A. Ivanov.

The prize was awarded to Ye.L. Muyzhnek for her monograph titled “The Concept of Secondary Messengers: from Fundamental Principles to Clinical Practice.” This monograph is the first and fullest Russian publication of its kind. In an easily comprehensible form, it comprehensively considers the formative stage and development of the concept of secondary intermediaries (biologically active molecules that provide a conduit for the transfer of intra-cellular regulation signals). This concept is groundbreaking in modern biochemistry, cellular physical and chemical biology and molecular medicine.

The Prize of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences is very prestigious in the scientific and medical world, and it is a high honor for anyone who works on fundamental questions of molecular medicine.
