OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2007. Summer repair work on Oktober Railways, a subdivision of Russian Railways, and the beginning of construction work on the second railway lines between Mga, Gatchina and Veimarn will result in a reduction in freight traffic to Estonia of 980 wagons per day. The reduction does not affect the shipment of transit freight, reported the press-centre of  Russian Railways.

The Company has already issued a preliminary warning to its clients and freight dispatchers.

Oil and petrochemicals shipments have been switched to Lithuania and Latvia, timber to Finland, mineral fertilisers to North-West Russia and coal to the Russian port of Ust-Luga and ports in the Ukraine.

According to its Statutes, Russian Railways may restrict orders to ship freight in any direction where it lacks the technical means to do so.
