OREANDA-NEWS. On May 30, 2007 the 8,340 kW (11,340 h.p.) DB62 0704 marine vessel diesel has been successfully tested by the Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ, a CJSC Transmashholding member). The diesel is designed for the JSC Buliard Shipbuilding Industry in Bulgaria, reported the press-centre of  Transmashholding.

The diesel will be mounted on a marine vessel planned to float out by 2008.

The diesel operation was tested in various load modes scheduled in the delivery program. The engine performed the design power, rate and fuel consumption.

The representatives of the JSC Buliard Shipbuilding Industry and the French testing laboratory and certification body Bureau Veritas conducted the inspection of the propulsion group. The commission examined the dismounted frame bearings, rod with piston, exhaust valve, fuel hardware and other assemblies to find possible problems caused by the tests. There were no defects detected and the diesel was delivered without any criticism.

The customer representatives have noted that there is a fleet renovation campaign under go in Bulgaria, which caused the resuming of cooperation with BMZ a year ago. The Bryansk marine vessel diesels have quality standards that the Bulgarian party finds quite acceptable since the former are certified by the world classification societies, namely English and German Lloyds, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Norwegian Veritas, etc. BMZ manufactures diesels under the MAN B&W licence.

The DB62 0704 is expected to be shipped this June.
