OREANDA-NEWS. On May 28, 2007 the 2ES4K №001 first Russian freight DC locomotive manufactured by the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ, a Transmashholding member) was sent for further tests to the Belorechenskaya depot of the North-Caucasian Railway (NCR, a JSC Russian Railways subsidiary), reported the press-centre of  Transmashholding.

Upon successfully passing the check and factory tests, the new 2ES4K electric locomotive was sent from the factory to the NCR for high-speed tests and preliminary dynamic and track wear tests. The tests are aimed at verifying the durability of the electric train, the body and frame load limits and the load impact on the track.

Upon the tests the electric locomotive is planned to be sent for a 5,000 km exploitation run to the Zlatoust depot of the South-Ural Railway.

The 2ES4K tests are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2007.
