OREANDA-NEWS. The relevant decree was passed during the June 8 conference of the director generals of the nuclear R&D institutes and the TVEL companies.

The mission of the Council is to consolidate the efforts for developing the nuclear power industry, to outline mid- and long-term development plans and to find effective ways to carry them out. The Council comprises representatives of nuclear R&D institutes, TVEL companies and specialized universities. The Council will work in four major directions: fuel, diversification (non-nuclear activities), raw materials and nuclear, radiation and ecological safety.

The acting president of TVEL Y.Olenin told the conferees about the results of TVEL’s activities in Russia and abroad, particularly, about the last fuel supply contract with Temelin NPP. He presented the company’s plans for increasing its production and supplies.

The conferees considered ways to enhance the efficiency of TVEL’s cooperation with research and development organizations.
