OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2007. Delivery time of postal items sent by railway will increase beginning with summer 2007. It is explained by implementing new routes of postal vans and transferring of postal vans to fast trains with speed in average 50% or 25% higher than of postal-cargo and passenger ones. Finally it will reduce delivery time of postal items.

The number of postal routes increased and it concerned the most popular directions such as: Novosibirsk – Moscow, Moscow – Abakan, Saint Petersburg – Samarа, Orenburg – Novosibirsk. New route Irkutsk – Moscow was launched and the current one Vladivostok-Irkutsk is planned to last to Saint Petersburg. Now post from Moscow to Ekaterinburg, Barnaul and Arkhangelsk will be delivered in fast trains.

The novelties are available due to the train schedule of railway network of the Russian Federation given the suggestions of Russian Post aiming at improvement of line-haul railway post delivery. New schedule brings changes in the routes of a number of trains and their periodicity.

Major part of postal items are transported by railway. In addition as expected in 2007 the volume of post delivered by railway would increase by 20% compared to the former year.
