OREANDA-NEWS. EcoWorld recognized JSC Acron for its efforts in environmental education and training and its consistent environmental policy and management. The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation hosted the award ceremony.

Acron received the prestigious award for its successful public education project in Veliky Novgorod called “Environmental Safety and Sustained Development in Russia.” The project was developed jointly by Acron, the Open Ecological University at Moscow State University and Valery Petrosyan’s Ecology and Health Centre.

The project aims to improve education of the city’s residents on environmental safety. Over 1,000 people attended a series of lectures delivered by prominent Russian scientists, including Dr. Mikhail Zalikhanov, chairman of the High Council on Environmental Issues, State Duma representative and member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Valery Petrosyan, member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

“This is the first time Veliky Novgorod has hosted such a top-tier environmental event. - Petrosyan emphasised in his opening address. - Acron is making an enormous effort to minimize its environmental impact and promote environmental education in the city”.

All project participants, who included school and university students, corporate CEOs and experts, environmentalists and retirees, received certificates issued by the Open Ecological University and Ecology and Health Centre.
