OREANDA-NEWS. JSC Acron held a public hearing to discuss the construction of a urea-ammonium nitrate (UAN) facility and upgrades to its methanol plant.

Employees of Acron and its hired contractors attended the hearing, as did residents of the neighboring communities, members of the Veliky Novgorod Duma and the media.

Matti Tauk, Acron’s manager for production development and new equipment, delivered a detailed report on the concept and benefits of the projects. Tauk informed the audience that the liquid nitrogen fertilizer UAN is in great demand in Western Europe and the U.S., with output growing by 300,000-500,000 tonnes annually. Acron intends to manufacture 500,000 tonnes each year, requiring an investment of approximately RUR 150 million. The new facility will provide employment for 20 workers. The project is also environmentally sound, since the hazardous emissions level will be low and the plant will not generate any solid waste.

Acron’s methanol plant was put in operation in 1967 and is currently scheduled as final stage of plant reconstruction, which commenced in 1995. The reconstruction project will increase methanol output to 192,000 tonnes yearly while improving quality and equipment safety and reducing emissions, Tauk reported. Ten additional vacancies will be opened once the project is completed.

Both projects are part of Acron’s investment programme.

Acron’s experts provided comprehensive answers to questions from the audience, and all who attended were satisfied with the information presented.
