OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2007. TNK-BP has commissioned the BKhO-2 activated sludge treatment complex at the Lysychansk Oil Refinery. The cost of building the complex was $10 million, and it took one and a half years to complete.

The complex will treat all wastewater at the refinery. Its efficiency for all types of pollutants will be over 90%, and it will be 100% for certain types of pollutants. Commissioning the complex will make it possible to reduce the corrosiveness of recycled water and implement treated water more broadly in the plant system.

The BKhO-2 Complex consists of technologically connected tank structures: activated sludge units, circular settling tanks, sludge pumping stations, and air-blowing stations. BKhO-2’s projected capacity is 600 cubic meters of water per hour.

The complex’s design was developed by JSC Ukrneftekhimproyekt together with the Severodonetsk branch of LLC Ukrenergoneftegazstroy, which acted as the general contractor.
