OREANDA-NEWS. On June 28, 2007 OMZ Oil and Gas Projects (Izhorskiye Zavody), a part of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), reported that it has successfully completed certification of its quality management system according to ISO 9001, reported the press-centre of OMZ.

The certification was issued by Bureau Veritas Certification, internationally recognized independent certification organization. The company has received the certificate confirming its quality management system’s compliance with ISO 9001 with validity to 2010.

Company personnel were heavily involved in the successful certification. The normative documents for the quality management system were developed; employee training concerning ISO 9001 undertaken, an inspection of the quality of products produced by the company’s plants and assessment of the most important suppliers was carried out. All preparatory work for the certification process was made independently by the company. This allowed the costs of certification to be decreased by 300%.

The certificate covers management over projects on design and supplying of processing installations and their components for the oil and gas industry. This is one of the most popular and promising business lines in the modern market currently developed by OMZ. Now, OMZ Oil and Gas Projects can demonstrate the competitiveness of its products with a Bureau Veritas’ certificate.

ISO 9001 certification is an important step towards reaching the company’s strategic goals on quality. In the near future the company plans to switch to designing and supplying the world market with "ready-to-operate" production-engineering complexes for oil and gas refining and to become a leader in this field in Russia and the CIS states.
