OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2007. The 3rd tourist forum of employees of nuclear power industry “Energy of Baltia” will be conducted at Leningrad NPP, reported the press-centre of  Leningrad NPP.

12 teams from Leningrad, Kalinin, Smolensk, Kola, Volgodonsk, Balakovo, Kursk and, probably, Beloyarsk NPPs, research companies and youth centers will contend in 17 events for adults and 12 events for teens as well as for special awards in team games and arts.

The guests will be accommodated at LNPP’s Chaika hostel on the southern shore of the Baltic Sea near LNPP’s satellite-city Sosnovy Bor. Almost 300 people are expected to come. The program of the forum will start with gorodki and bivouac contests. Bivouac making is one of the novelties of the forum – a tradition that is actively developing among nuclear power engineers.

In the evening the chairman of the Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society “Atom-Sport” Valentin Ilyn will welcome the guests and will officially open the forum. The ceremony may be attended by Director General of Rosenergoatom Sergey Obozov and his deputy for personnel management and social security Jumberi Tkechubava, who will be taking part in a guest meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Natural Monopoly at LNPP.

One more novelty of the forum is water tourism and … tree-climbing. The latter event has replaced rock-climbing as you will hardly find rocks among sand-dunes. First introduced last year, tree-climbing has already become quite popular – even among professional rock-climbers. Last year the event was conducted at night in the moonlight – quite a romantic adventure. In the evening the organizers will present tourism development projects in the nuclear power industry.

The last day will be the most eventful: contests in various events, quizzes in geography, biology and nuclear power engineering … and, of course, the awarding ceremony with solemn speeches and salvoes of applause. And the speakers will certainly appear with new ideas and even projects on how to develop tourism. After all, the key goal of the forum is the creation of corporate infrastructure and culture.
