OREANDA-NEWS. On July 03, 2007 Porsche has selected Schenker, a Deutsche Bahn company, to supply its network of dealers in Russia, reported the press-centre of Schenker.

Since November last year Schenker has ensured that Porsche's contractual partners in Russia are supplied just-in-time with original parts and fittings as well as Porsche accessories on demand. The project also included the management of returns on warranty parts and motors. The logistics center in Moscow designed by Schenker especially for Porsche has now been opened for business by representatives of both companies.

The new facility will handle express deliveries for the 16 Porsche dealers in Russia. Schenker will receive the original parts from the central Porsche storage facilities in Ludwigsburg and Waiblingen in Germany and from then on it is responsible for the entire logistics chain: land transport for supplies, air freight for express shipments, customs clearance, warehouse management and processing returns, all from a single source ranging from St. Petersburg to the Urals. The logistics center, totaling approximately 2,500 square meters, is specially designed to meet Porsche's needs and also has separate storage areas for dangerous goods as well as parts and accessories of particularly high value.

"The Russian automotive market is one of Porsche's most important growth markets. That is why when we established our sales company, Porsche Russland, we also decided to optimize supplies to our dealers through our cooperation with Schenker," says Michael Macht, Executive Vice President responsible for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG.

"This project represents a special challenge to us," says Hans-Jorg Hager, member of the Management Board of Management, Schenker AG, responsible for European Land Transport. "We can prove our quality as a logistics service provider and the performance capability of our European network here on a daily basis. Our customers profit from our extensive knowledge of the Russian market and special requirements for customs clearance."
