OREANDA-NEWS. On July 13, 2007 during the night hours the wheel was delivered to the Pulkovo airport for further delivery to Dushanbe onboard AN-124 "Ruslan" cargo jet, reported the press-centre of Interros.

The wheel’s diameter is 6,36 meter, i.e. 2 centimeter’s larger than the wheels produced and delivered earlier by the "Silovye Mashiny" for the Bureyskaya HEPS.

The unique air transportation operation for delivery of such a heavy load was completed by the "Silovye Mashiny" traditional partners: the air transportation company "Instar Logistics" and "Polet" air company which specializes in transporting super heavy and bulky loads.

This is the first turbine wheel manufactured by the "Silovye Mashiny" for Sangtudinsky HEPS-1 under the agreement for power equipment delivery for four 167,5 megawatts power units for the hydro power station under construction. The agreement amounts to about $100 mln. According to the plan the first power unit will be commissioned at the end of December 2007.

Construction of the Sangtudinsky HEPS is one of the most ambitious and large-scale projects on the CIS territory. Its completion will allow to meet both the internal needs of Tajikistan and the export capabilities for power deliveries to Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and power deficient regions of Russia.
