OREANDA-NEWS. On July 21, 2007 Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Mr. Shigeo Katsu, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, reported the Official website www.en.government.kz.

Main issue on the agenda was modernization of public administration in Kazakhstan, as well as projects to reform healthcare and customs sectors. This was announced by Mr. Katsu at the briefing following their meeting.

July 21, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Mr. Shigeo Katsu, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia. Main issue on the agenda was modernization of public administration in Kazakhstan, as well as projects to reform healthcare and customs sectors. This was announced by Mr. Katsu at the briefing following their meeting.
 
According to Mr. Katsu, assistance to the Kazakh government in modernization of the state’s system of public service to the citizens, notably in education and healthcare, is a priority for the World Bank.  The World Bank is ready to support the projects and facilitate intersectoral cooperation.
 
“Modernization of public administration to upgrade effectiveness of the Government is a critical step towards strengthening of the nation’s competitive edge”, Shigeo Katsu said. He also highlighted the importance of the “30 Corporate Leaders” Program currently under implementation in Kazakhstan. “The President has set an important task before the President - to join the club of most competitive nations; and this particular program is a tool to accomplish the task with”, he said.
