OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2007. Qualifying rounds of World Cyber Games (WCG)* Russia 2007 for North-Western Federal District started in St.-Petersburg. OJSC NWT is the official sponsor of the event.

The competitions take place in “Zanevsky Kaskad” cinema of Kronverk cinema chain. They will last for 6 days until the Counter-Strike 1.6, StarCraft: BW, Warcraft III: TFT, FIFA 2007 and NFS: Carbon finals on 29 July.

During the finals the OJSC NWT will hold the promotional action for Avangarde broadband internet access. Any visitor will be able to check the technical availability of the service, take part in quizzes with Avangarde prizes and obtain an instant photo in Avangarde frame. All competitions participants will receive branded Avangarde gifts.

The St.-Petersburg qualifying rounds for the World Cyber Games will determine the North-Western team which will take part in the final Russian round of competitions in Moscow.

The main goal of the competitions is to involve young gamers and to contribute to the development of computer sport in Russia as a new kind of sports competitions.
