OREANDA-NEWS. On July 24, 2007 Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, held negotiations with Vladimir Kozak, managing director of the State Administration of Ukrainian Railways, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The two sides discussed cooperation between Russia and Ukraine’s railways on transporting passengers and freight on international routes, including safety and security.

An agreement was reached on the more efficient use of rolling stock, in particular open freight cars owned by Russia and Ukraine.

To optimize document processing it was decided to go over gradually to electronic versions of exchanging documents between two sides.

An agreement was also signed on the joint operation of locomotives, locomotive teams, equipping and fitting locomotives and clearing accounts between Russian Railways and the State Administration of Rail Transport of the Ukraine.
