OREANDA-NEWS. With the intention to further strengthen its investment banking activities, Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) will combine them under the roof of CA IB and under the operating management of Willi Hemetsberger, reported the press-centre of IMB.

CA IB International Markets AG, currently BA-CA’s equity brokerage house, will be the management company for those activities and will take up the business of CA IB Corporate Finance Beratungs GesmbH as well as all Markets business currently run out of BA-CA (predominantly trading related activities). Additionally, CA IB subsidiaries in London and CEE (including Aton, the recently acquired broker house in Russia) will be part of CA IB International Markets AG. Willi Hemetsberger will continue to be Member of the Management Board of BA-CA.

“CA IB has always enjoyed an excellent reputation as a top investment bank in Austria and Emerging Europe. Since we have become part of UniCredit’s investment banking strategy, our activities out of Vienna have increased and we are competing with global players in a number of business fields. Therefore we have decided to join forces and bundle our markets & investment banking activities in order to further enhance our quality of customer service”, Hemetsberger stated.

CA IB continues to be a 100 percent subsidiary of BA-CA. Hemetsberger’s double function as Board Member of BA-CA and CEO of CA IB will ensure a functioning linkage between the mother company and its subsidiary. Together with him the board will consist of Christoph Raninger (Head of Business) and Robert Wieselmayer (COO). In the near future, the company will change its name into UniCredit CA IB AG, which will enable it to fully benefit from the global investment banking brand “UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking”.
