OREANDA-NEWS. On August 1 at Moscow’s Riga Station the Innovation Centre at Russian Railways gave a presentation at 10 am attended by Sergey Ivanov, Russian first deputy prime minster government, and Vladimir Yakunin, president of Russian Railways, took part. The Centre presented advanced rail technologies

The Centre it is located near Metro Riga, Riga Square, Dom. 3, Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of Russian Railways, in the building of Riga Station.

This was followed between 12:30 and 14:30 by the opening of the exhibition “The Railways of Russia: A Great Journey,” dedicated to the 170th anniversary of railways in Russia.

The exhibition was held in the State Historical Museum on Red Square, Dom. 1/, Hall Number 1.

It displays unique exhibits from the collections of the largest Russian federal and railway museums, archives and other collections of cultural artifacts for the first time will be shown. Vladimir Yakunin, president of Russian Railways, and Mikhail Shvydkoy, head of Russia’s Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography, took part in the opening ceremony.

During the evening of August 1, 2007, in the Russky Region of Greater Moscow a therapeutic and rehabilitation centre of Russian Railways will be opened.

On August 3, Vladimir Yakunin, will conduct a holiday conference call, during which he will congratulate the rail workers of Russia on their professional holiday.

Also on August 3, Russian Railways’ management will meet veterans of the rail sector and the best workers at the Company.

At Komsomol Ploshchad in Moscow, wreaths will be laid at the monument to Pavel Melnikov, Russia’s first Minister of Communications.

On August 5, the Day of Railway Workers, a professional holiday, will be held at Gorky Park in Moscow. The celebration will be attended by 25,000 people from Russian Railways and its subdivisions, subsidiaries and dependent companies, the rail sector and partners and the clients of the Company.

A circus, sport events and facilities and other attractions will be available for children and adults, including an ice rink which will offer rides in horse and carriage. A gala concert with stars from the Russian stage and a firework display in the evening will round off the day. Vladimir Yakunin, president of Russian Railways, will congratulate the gathering.
