OREANDA-NEWS. August 7, 2007. The specialists drew the results of the subscription campaign for the second half year of 2007. The official data show that subscription circulation volumes grew by 4.1 % compared to the same period in the former year, subscription sum grew by 7 %. The subscription campaign for the second half year of 2007 amounts 28.7 bln issues of periodicals.

79 % of FSUE Russian Post branch offices noted subscription circulation growth. The majority of the regions have kept the subscription volumes at the level of the former year and even managed to increase the figures.

The results of subscription campaign of the second half year of 2007 emphasized AFPS in Ulyanovsk region as absolute leader. This AFPS provided growth of subscription circulations by 20.7 % in the region. AFPS in the Udmurt Republic and the Republic of Dagestan the volumes grew by 17 %.

The Republic of Bashkortostan has been considered the most reading region in Russia for many years. In this region 563 periodicals account for 1000 people that exceeds all-Russia statistics 2.5 times. In the second half year of 2007 subscription volumes grew by 4,5 % accounted for 2.1 bln issues. In the Krasnodar territory the figures grew by 4.5 % accounted for 1.9 bln issues, in Rostov region 4.2 % accounted for 1.1 bln issues respectively. Samara region has showed considerable results. In this region growth of 6.9 % accounted for 0.9 bln issues. Moscow region should be also noted with growth of 9 % accounted for 0.7 bln issues.

One year ago the subscription market viewed recovering trend as volumes of subscription campaign for the second half year of 2006 grew by 0.4 % for the first time in the terms of long-term and systematic reduction of subscription circulations at post. Since that time subscription circulations show stable growth. Subscription circulations for the fist half year of 2007(as of 1st of January) grew by 4.1 % compared to the same period of 2006. Final results for the first half year of 2007 given the current subscription of 30th of June 2007 showed subscription circulations growth of 5.6 %.

The enterprise worked out unified tariffs for subscription to guarantee equal terms for the editions of all levels. Within 2008-2009 the enterprise plans to set them gradually for federal/regional and district/urban press. At the same time post plans to improve discount system. The enterprise set nondiscriminatory discount rates approved by the Federal Antimonopoly Agency to stimulate editions to increase subscription circulation.

If since the second half year of 2006 Russian Post grants the discounts for editions with single subscription circulation exceeding 240 thousand issues in accordance with the recommendations of the Federal Antimonopoly Agency, not only federal editions with circulation from 230 thousand issues, but regional ones with circulation from 15.5 thousand issues can get the discounts in the fist half year of 2008. The tariff rates will be kept for the editions of local/regional level in the first half-year of 2008.

As planned, Russian Post will hold further rearrangement on subscription jointly with all the participants of the market.
