OREANDA-NEWS. On August 08, 2007 IBS, the leader in the Russian IT and consulting market, announced completion of the IT infrastructure upgrade and development project for the Higher School of Economics (State University) (SU-HSE). The project involved supply and integration of software and hardware in the current IT infrastructure, including supply and integration of server hardware, communications equipment and data storage systems, reported the press-centre of IBS.

The Higher School of Economics (State University) is among Russia’s top universities with a socio-economic focus, has 13 colleges and three branches, 9,000 students and over 1,300 faculty members and research officers. Under the Education priority national project SU-HSE carries out the Innovative Education Program which requires, among other things, development of information systems and infrastructure supporting education and research processes.

IBS won the open tender for supply and integration of hardware under the Innovative Education Program to develop the university infrastructure, having submitted a bid based on HP hardware platforms that was deemed as best fulfilling SU-HSE requirements.

The project included upgrade of IT infrastructure in five divisions within the HSE: two campuses in Moscow and branches in St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm. IBS supplied and integrated blade servers, switches, data storage systems, virtual servers administration systems, network monitoring systems, uninterruptible power supply units etc. In total over 150 items were supplied. IBS launched and then handed over the new hardware for operation by SU-HSE.

In addition to warranty and maintenance services, IBS will be providing SU-HSE with new versions of the software, code modifiers and reference guides for HP software and some products from other vendors, including licenses to use and copy new versions of software products for all systems under the original license.

The hardware and software installed provided high computing power and data storage capability and high fault tolerance of SU-HSE network infrastructure required for continuous support of education, university administration and maintenance processes. The hardware and software solution provided offers capacity for further growth, upgrades and scaling up without replacing the hardware used, protecting the financial investment made implementing this project.

The project was completed in two months. The supplies and services totaled over 40 million rubles.
