OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2007.  UC RUSAL, the world’s largest producer of aluminium and alumina, is delighted to announce the appointment of Sergey Otroschenko as Director of the Raw Materials Division.

Sergey Otroschenko will head the division which provides raw materials (with the exception of alumina) to the aluminium smelters of UC RUSAL. His responsibilities will include searching for new growth opportunities at the Raw Materials Division, including both acquisition and the construction of assets. He will also be in charge of improving efficiency at the division through optimization of the procurement system and other measures.

Mr. Otroschenko’s extensive expertise in the metals and raw materials business will ensure achieving UC RUSAL’s strategic goal of self-sufficiency in raw materials and widening the company’s global presence.

Sergey Otroschenko was born in 1956 in Novokuznetsk, the Kemerovo region. He graduated from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute with a degree in Electrometallurgy of Steel and Ferroalloys, qualifying as a metals engineer in 1979.  Sergey Otroschenko started his career in 1980 at the Kuznetsk metals plant working as a steel engineer and then as a manager in the electric steelmaking shop and the cast house. In 1984 Sergey Otroschenko received an appointment at the Moldova metals plant and worked there until 1994 as deputy director for finances. In 1994-1997 he worked as deputy head of the raw materials and fuel unit at the Novolipetsk metals plant. Later, he occupied top positions in a number of metals production facilities including EvrazHolding, where from 2001 to 2005 he worked as deputy general director, head of refractory products procurement and sales unit. Before joining UC RUSAL Sergey Otroschenko was the CEO of the ‘ESTAR’ Trading House.
