OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2007. Russian Post purchases 41 IVECO Eurocargo cars with lifting capacity of 6-10 tons within the framework of the project on postal logistics optimizing and car fleet upgrading. Presently the experts of Russian Post approved the first lot of the cars (19 units). They were sent to be equipped with special vans for delivery of large-sized postal items.

New cars are to exchange old exhausted ones of domestic origin currently used. The technique has lighted sites and aggregates, chassis Eurocargo in particular. Due to this tare mass of car is reduced that economies fuel and improves delivery process. Four-wheel drive attachment enables to drive in off-the-road conditions that makes it optimal for many far regions of Russia. As planned, the cars will be put into operation in October this year. First IVECO Eurocargo cars will be directed to Krasnoyarsk, other ones to Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Kemerovo regions and the Krasnodar territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Mordovia and other Russian regions.

Russian Post purchases IVECO cars since 2005. Presently over 20 auto tracks IVECO Stralis AT190S35R with lifting capacity of 20 tons are employed in line-haul routes. They have recommended themselves as safe transport facilities for postal items delivery.

Car delivery is the main type of all the deliveries the enterprise makes. Quality and time of delivery depends directly on transport safety. Russian Post constantly upgrades its car fleet and chooses cars given the peculiarities and state of the roads in each of the regions.

Currently, Russian Post’s transport fleet amounts about 18, 000 cars represented mainly by ones of domestic origin (KamAZ, MAZ, GAZ, UAZ, VAZ, IZH) and modern cars of foreign origin IVECO, Mercedes, Volkswagen specially equipped for mail delivery at line-haul routes and in the cities.
