OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2007. In January-July 2007, throughput of the port of St. Petersburg surged 15%, year-on-year to 34.166.4 million tones.

In the reported period, transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 5,618.8 thou tonnes (+57%, year-on-year) including 437.0 thou tonnes of ore (+12%), 3,666.3 thou tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+49%), 1,483.7 thou tonnes of coal and coke (2.3-fold increase).

Transshipment of dry loose cargo (grain) made 366.8 thou tonnes (+34%), forest goods – 1,518.6 thou tonnes (-10%), general cargo - 8950.0 thou tonnes (+1%) including 2,690.4 thou tonnes of ferrous metal (-10%), 868.3 thou tonnes of non-ferrous metal (-3%) and 1,587.5 thou tonnes of scrap metal (-12%).

Transshipment of packaged goods made 299.7 thou tonnes (+17%), refrigerated cargo – 2,310 thou tonnes (+14%), other general cargo - 1194.3 thou tonnes (+36%). Transshipment of containers grew 16% to 9,704.9 thou tonnes (962,756.0 teus). Transshipment of oil products amounted to 7,999.9 thou tonnes (+14%). In the seven-month period 15,689 vessels entered and left the port of St. Petersburg.
