OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2007. Ust-Ilimsk branch of Ilim Group is ready to recultivate the third solid waste storing line of lime pit 83 three years ahead of schedule. The project’s aim was to bring into running order the only licensed solid and liquid industrial and municipal waste landfill in Ust-Ilimsk and the region. The preparation works began in 2006.

The project was to take up 5 years, with an investment of RUB 50 million. However, by using local containment material instead of turning to exported product provided a considerable cutdown on implementation time and cost of the project. General cost of preparation works necessary to start recultivation of the lime pit’s third line was RUB 19 mln. The works to complete the project were performed around the clock. Another reason for such efficiency was using heavy-duty machines.

Today, all the preparation works at the containment, including the evaporating tank, have been completed, thus solving for the next 20 years Ilim Group’s Ust-Ilimsk branch problem of utilizing industrial waste.
