OREANDA-NEWS. On August 22, 2007 within the framework of implementation of megaproject Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad (Uzbekistan), LUKOIL Overseas through its subsidiary operating company, LUKOIL Uzbekistan, has completed yet another construction stage on the large gas field on the Khauzak block, reported the press-centre of LUKOIL Overseas.

In particular, in accordance with the work schedule, construction of a power center and external power supply facilities (including 110/10 kV transformer substation and 58 km of high-voltage power lines) that lasted six months was completed. An important communication facility, 50 m high antenna mast structure on which radio-relay and trunking USW communication equipment will be installed, was also constructed.  All facilities are designed to have a sufficient safety factor for seismic activity of 8 points.

In addition, drilling of three development wells, including one horizontal and two directional wells, was completed on the block.  Three more wells are being drilled with the use of three heavy rigs. 9 development wells will be drilled on the block by the end of the year, and the total number of wells in the network of the Khauzak construction project will be 27.

Logging, gas condensate and fluid tests, core sampling from the producing horizons of the cross-section are carried out during well construction process in order to study the permeability of rocks.  To prevent drilling problems, an individual design document is prepared for each well.

Commissioning of the gas field is scheduled for the end of this year.
