OREANDA-NEWS. On August 22, 2007 Prime Minister, Aigars Kalvitis met the Governor of the Pskov Region of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Kuznetsov who is paying a visit to Latvia, reported the Official website http://www.mk.gov.lv. 

Mikhail Kuznetsov introduced the Prime Minister with socially – economic development of the Pskov Region, rapidly increasing foreign investment, one – third of them being capital investment of Latvia and expressed interest in maintaining and intensifying this tendency.

The Governor informed about the intention to organize Pskov days in Latvia this autumn during which it would be possible to get acquainted with culture, history of the region, co-operation opportunities in tourism, logistics and agriculture. It would promote activities of Latvian entrepreneurs in the Pskov region.

The Prime Minister very positively assessed this intention and promised support of the Government in organizing of the event and active participation of responsible ministers.

The head of the Government agreed that Latvian entrepreneurs might be interested in co-operation in wood-processing, agriculture and emphasized that clear business rules and investment protection are significant pre-conditions.

Aigars Kalvitis advised to get acquainted with Latvia’s experience in the state forest management where Latvia is one of the most successful European countries.

The Governor expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s support in organizing Pskov days in Latvia and promised support in organizing similar events of Latvia or local-governments of the borderland in Pskov and invited Aigars Kalvitis to visit Pskov.
