OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2007. Kuybyshev Railways has begun offering text services by mobile phone in Samara, Penzenskaya, Ulyanov and Orenburg Oblasts.

Each mobile user can now obtain suburban train timetables simply by dialing 2636 and sending a text message – s/he receives the response within several seconds.

The service only works in Russian, but will soon be augmented by information on changes to trains caused by technological problems.
