OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2007. Russia will launch 10 new nuclear power units by 2015, says the deputy head of Rosatom Nikolay Spassky, reported the press-centre of Rosatom.

“By 2015 we are planning to commission 10 new nuclear power units,” Spassky said during a roundtable in Moscow on Tuesday. He said that this is quite much especially after the last years’ stagnation.

Spassky said that by 2020 Rosatom is planning to increase the share of nuclear energy in the total energy production in the country to 21%-25% from present 16,5%. “In Russia nuclear power plants produce 16,5% of total electricity. By 2020 we are planning to increase this figure to 21%-25%,” he said.
