OREANDA-NEWS. On August 20-24, 2007 a group of Rosenergoatom experts visited Leningrad NPP, reported the press-centre of Leningrad NPP.

The group was led by the head of the Safety Control Department V.Saitiyev and the chief inspector of Leningrad NPP Y.Gusarov and comprised the deputy head of the Department for Operation of Channel-Type and Fast Reactors S.Dolganov, the head of the Department for Radiation Safety, Environment Protection and Control of Nuclear Materials A.Belikov, the senior expert of the Scientific-Technical Support Department V.Lysenko, the head of the Maintenance Department Y.Smirnov and other Rosenergoatom officials.

The acting chief engineer of Leningrad NPP K.Kudryavtsev says that the objective of the visit was to see if the plant was preparing for Rostekhnadzor’s Oct 2007 inspection. “It will be a big inspection: Rostekhnadzor is going to see what Leningrad NPP has recently done to enhance its safety.”

“We had such an inspection last year too. This year they have decided to see once again what we have done in the last 15 years. The inspection will be carried out according to Rostekhnadzor’s program and in line with the relevant laws. We will get the program two weeks before the inspection,” says Kudryavtsev.

The experts came to see if Leningrad NPP was ready for Rostekhnadzor’s inspection, to point to mistakes and to prompt ways to correct them before the inspection. In fact, it was a technical support mission. “They just wanted to see with their own eyes how we are doing here,” says Kudryavtsev.
