OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2007. Belarus should increase its industrial output faster, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said at session of the Council of Ministers, which tabled the next year’s national social and economic development targets, reported the Official website http://www.government.by.

Economy Minister Nikolai Zaichenko said, the draft performance forecast expects the industrial output to swell by 7-8% in 2008. He explained, the expected figure is restrained by the predicted performance growth of Belarusian food industry concern Belgospischeprom and petrochemical concern Belneftekhim. Major petrochemical projects are being implemented now to boost production in 2009-2010.

The Prime Minister underlined, the upper limit of the production growth target should be secured in 2008. “If Belarus lacks enterprises, let’s build a new tractor plant. Meanwhile, the existing brands should be developed,” he remarked. It is new production facilities and new products that Belarusian companies should use to reinforce their position on the global market, underlined Sergei Sidorsky.
