OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2007. President of Atomstroyexport Sergey Shmatko and Director General of Almaz-Antey Concern Vladislav Menshikov signed a memorandum on cooperation in building power facilities (including nuclear power plants), reported the press-centre of Atomstroyexport.

The growing demand for electricity and new generating capacities is a serious challenge for all leading world machine builders.

Atomstroyexport seeks to promote Russian NPP projects in both Russia and abroad by developing innovative technologies, supporting research and involving highly developed defense and manufacturing companies in the nuclear power industry.

Almaz-Antey is one of the biggest companies of the world military industry. It is interested in developing its enterprises, enhancing their scientific-technical and economic potential and producing highly competitive technologies for the power sector (including nuclear power plants).
Atomstroyexport and Almaz-Antey have agreed to jointly implement investment projects in power engineering so as to foster the development of the leading enterprises of the defense industry and meeting the growing demand for electricity.

Note
Almaz-Antey Concern is the biggest integrated structure of the defense industry of Russia: it comprises almost all Russian designers and producers of air defense, information and communication systems, non-strategic ballistic missile defense systems. Some of its companies produce equipment for nuclear power plants.

Atomstroyexport is the leading Russian company implementing NPP construction projects abroad. Presently, it is the only company in the world that is simultaneously building four NPPs abroad –  China, India, Iran and Bulgaria.
