OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2007. Yuri Evdokimov, the governor of the Murmansk region, and Sergey Frank, general director of Sovcomflot, singed a cooperation agreement in Murmansk.

According to the press-service of Sovcomflot, the company intends to build a complex to handle oil in the Kola Bay. The company regards Murmansk as the base port to serve arctic shelf energy projects. It is planned to build warehousing facilities and repair center there.

It should be pointed out that Sovcomflot’s vessels transport carbohydrates from the port of Vitino. In the next future arctic tankers which are now being built for Sovcomflot will serve shelf projects - Varandey (the operator - Nariyanmarneftegas) and Priraslomnoe (the operator -Sevmorneftegas). It is planned to handle oil in the Kola Bay, where Rosnefteflot (the joint venture of Rosneft and Sovcomflot) operates the oil storage named Belokamenka. Besides, Sovcomflot participates in the tender on service of oil handling near Murmansk.
