OREANDA-NEWS. Severstal Metiz based in Volgograd has for the first time produced steel zinc-coated 52 mm ropes complying with the European DIN 3064 standard. This standard differs from the Russian GOST by a stricter diameter margin, a bigger lay pitch, and special requirements for the amount of zinc in the coating. Round strand 52 mm ropes with a metal core of the DIN 3064 standard are used in different lifting devices, usually excavators.

Severstal Metiz is an international group producing metalware with enterprises in Russia, Ukraine and Britain.

It holds a leading position in the Russian industry, controlling about 30% of the market and is the biggest exporter of metalware from Russia to Europe and the CIS (about 53% of total exports). The group’s revenues in 2006 amounted to some RUR 22.8 bn ($885.8 mn, or ?659.9 mn at the current exchange rate).
