OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2007.  Three representatives of Zaporizhstal JSC, rolling laboratory production engineer of the Central Works’ Laboratory, Vasiliy Litvinenko, senior engineer of the Computer Center, Igor Polulyakh, and installer of ventilation systems and air conditioning of laboratory of environment protection, Lilia Merzlova. All of them became prizewinners in their sections among the guests.

Igor Polulyakh won the second prize in the information technology section. He submitted a report to the competent jury on an automatic planning system for feeding the hot strip mill 1680, which he worked out himself.

“This topic is very up-to-date for our Works,” — underlines the author. "The set tasks of this system add up to realization of the programme which forms shop orders for hot rolled products on the base of analysis of the sales department stock of orders taking into consideration the current information of order fulfillment in the shops. It also realizes programmes for compiling the mill rolling schedule according to formed orders taking into consideration the rolling technology and production plans of hot rolled stock. Besides this, the new system allows to control production on all stages and reduce out of order production. Since we are speaking of information systems they can be used in different spheres of the Works. The scientific and technical conference is a good possibility to communicate with colleges and to see in what fields they are working.

Vasiliy Litvinenko won the third prize. He reported on the research results of the possibility of increasing the end rolling speed of hot rolled strips. The introduced innovations have allowed to receive an increase of production up to 3 thousand tons per month, at total rolling of about 300 000 tons. Such a result has been achieved due to reduction of the technological rolling process (an average of 6 hours per month).

A third prize was also awarded to Lilia Merzlova. She dedicated her report to the problem of coming out of the ecological crisis. She proposed a method of reducing emissions of dust and sulphurous anhydride in outlet gases of the sintering machine.

“Next year the first sintering machine will be shut down for revamping. I hope that the new ideas will be found useful,” — expressed her wish Lilya. "It’s pleasant to know that at our Works great attention is paid to ecology. The conference demonstrated that these questions at other plants at such a scale are not considered at all.

At present the prizewinners together with their instructors are working on other projects, which they plan to finish in the near future so that they will be able to honourably present them at Zaporozhstal scientific and technical conference. Traditionally it will take place on the eve of the Works’ birthday.
