OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2007. The Mine 1 accident area continues to be monitored on a continuous basis. The water inflow into the mine has decreased to 3,100–3,400 cubic meters per hour and the rate of subsidence is not growing within the Berezniki town boundaries. From July 28, the date when the subsidence occurred to September 13, the ground under the railroad sank by 10–46 millimeters. The monitoring has not found any abnormal deviations in the condition of surface water bodies or streams since the subsidence occurred.
As of September 13, the crater size increased due to the sliding of the surrounding quaternary deposits and banked ground and reached 205x92 meters. The crater size in the bed rock is 155x50 meters. The accident area is 76 meters from the federal railroad and 186 meters from the emergency railroad both of which continue to be in operation.

A meeting attended by the Chairman of the Government Commission responsible for the prevention of adverse effects from Mine 1 subsidence, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev, and the Russian Minister of Regional Development Vladimir Yakovlev was held in Berezniki on September 7. The meeting participants, together with the authorities and representatives of scientific institutions and Uralkali, discussed the current situation at the mine. The meeting participants noticed that the situation was developing as forecasted by scientists and experts.
