OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2007. A refinery with annual capacity of 20 million tonnes will be built close to Nakhodka. The presentation of Rosneft projects was held in the city under the chairmanship of Rosneft CEO Sergei Bogdanchikov. According to projectors the construction site is located 17 kilometers from Nakhodka, close to Vostok Bay. The personnel of the refinery will comprise 1,500 persons. The plant is to produce different types of fuel and a wide range of petrochemical goods.

It is supposed that products of Vostochny Refinery (the plant’s working name) will be transported to international market via Nakhodka oil tank farm. It is to be linked with the refinery by a 17-kilometer pipeline. The farm’s capacity is to be increased to almost 800,000 cubic meters through construction of additional tanks. A deep-water berth will be built at Nakhodka oil tank farm for mooring of 100,000-dwt tankers. Besides, there is one more alternative for shipment of the plant’s product – construction of a new sea terminal at the coast of Vostok Bay, two kilometers from the refinery. The bay’s depth is enough for tankers with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes.

According to Mr. Bogdanchikov,  a priority in construction will be placed on Russian contractors and Russian equipment. The first phase of the refinery (10 million tonnes) is to be started by 2012.
