OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2007. Today sees the start of the production of elevator ropes according to European technical and quality specification din 3062. Production is on new installed equipment at the Cherepovets plant "Severstal-metiz".

As a result of this investment, rope capacity will be up to 350 tons per month, offering full product quality and consistency due to the latest state of the art computer control. The organic sisal or polypropylene core also positively influences the quality and endurance of the rope product.

Executive director of the Cherepovets plant Alexander Shevelev said: "We’ve mastered the manufacture of elevator ropes long ago. Now we have invested in new equipment at our Cherepovets plant which opens up new Russian and European markets. Elevator ropes are in demand in our domestic market and are widely used in the industrial and civil building sectors".

The project has taken nine months to complete, and was supported by an investment level of 29 million roubles.
