OREANDA-NEWS. The system of gas supply in Chelyabinsk is ready to operate in winter.  This conclusion was made by a commission of leading specialists of OJSC Chelyabinskgorgaz (a subdivision of the Gazeks gas holding company, IES-Holding) based on the results of an inspection. The commission analysed the results of completing target major and minor repairs of gas pipelines and additional winterisation measures.  The certificate of the enterprise's preparedness for winter was sent to the city government.

In summer, the enterprise performed all basic repairs that require short interruptions in gas supply to consumers. In the first instance, this is replacement of check valves on the city's main gas arteries. By the start of the heating season, Chelyabinskgorgaz specialists had repaired equipment on 15 gas control units (GCUs). Process equipment was rebuilt at four GCUs and the heating system was replaced at seven GCUs. Around 40 new pipeline sections were fitted in gas pipelines instead of corroded ones in Chelyabinsk and the Sosnovskiy District.

Chelyabinskgorgaz managing director Andrei Lekanov noted, "Regular maintenance and timely major repairs of gas pipelines allow extending their operating life, but reliable operation of the entire gas supply system can only be ensured by means of its continuous reconstruction and modernisation."
