OREANDA-NEWS. On September 25, 2007 the Karmaskalinsky region in the Republic of Bashkortostan has hosted the opening ceremony of the Review-Competition “Gazprom Best Welder-2007” and Bashtransgaz Accredited Welder Test Facility, reported the press-centre of Gazprom.

The opening ceremony was attended by Murtaza Rakhimov, President of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Gazprom delegation chaired by Bogdan Budzulyak, Gazprom Management Committee Member, Head of the Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department.

Reporting at the ceremony, Bogdan Budzulyak told the participants about the prospects of Gazprom development. Particularly, the reporter pointed to the largest projects, which the Company plans to execute in near future.

“Today more than 5000 professional welders are employed by the Gazprom Group. Gas main reliability and secure operating, stable gas supply to domestic and foreign consumers mostly depend on the welder labor productivity, professional experience and qualification. The human factor still is the leading factor here despite rapid high tech production development and implementation.

The professional field skill Review-Completion “Gazprom Best Welder-2007” is an important event aimed at raising the professional prestige, experience sharing as well as professional skill enhancement,” said Bogdan Budzulyak.

The Review-Competition “Gazprom Best Welder-2007” has been held in pursuance of the Gazprom Order since 2003 during odd years.

The Review-Competition is being held during September 25-27 in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Competition is attended by the representatives from 23 gas transportation and production companies of Gazprom Group. Said companies are the winners of the first stage of the Competition, which was held in gas transportation and production companies.

Within the competition welders will pass two exams:
theory exam on major principles of welding production;
practical exam on welding control welded joints of different diameter.

The accredited test facility is aimed at educating, advanced training and accreditation of welders, developing new welding technologies as well as testing new welding equipment.
