OREANDA-NEWS. On September 28, 2007 Board of Directors’ meeting has commenced at the Gazprom Headquarters, reported the press-centre of Gazprom.

The Board of Directors heard information on the progress with updating the General Scheme of Gas Industry Development until 2030.

The Gazprom Management Committee was tasked to finalize the updating of the General Scheme due to the General Scheme rates of allocating power generation facilities until 2020 updated in pursuance of the Decision of the Government of the Russian Federation as well as forecasting gas balance, which considers results of the activity conducted on signing long-term gas supply agreements.

The General Scheme of the Gas Industry Development until 2030 was developed in pursuance of the Action Plan on diversifying the hydrocarbon pipeline transportation system in the Russian Federation approved by the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation.

The General Scheme’s goal is to fulfill major production functions by the industry within the maximally economic and financial efficiency on account of the well-balanced participation principle of the country, Gazprom and independent producers within the long-term gas industry development.

A major issue of the General Scheme is to define optimal gas production volumes depending on forecasting gas demand as well as prospects for resource base development and gas pricing policy on the internal market.
