OREANDA-NEWS. Sibirtelecom, a Russian telecommunications company, posted results of its activity in the first half of 2007. Sibirtelecom's income of 1H 2007 made up USD17 bln, having improved up 20.3% compared to the similar period of 2006. Profit for the reported period amounted to USD1.9 bln, growing by 6% over past year's results for the 1H.

According to analysts of Veles Capital, Sibirtelecom was last of IRCs to publish the first year-half's IAS report. "Primary values dynamics was not surprising, as all of IRCs were influenced by same factors - new tariffs and CPP. However, unlike most of its 'brothers' of Svyazinvest, Sibirtelecom had its EBITDA and EBIT go down this half of year, the main reason being the growth of interconnect expenses, which brought serious impact on the growth of company's operating costs," state the experts. - "Overall, we see the company's report neutral, confirming our recommendation 'buy' for company's shares."
