OREANDA-NEWS. Forbes and Finance magazines have published annual ratings of companies based on results of 2006. Company MERLION keeps its leading position in IT segment with confidence and continues increasing its business coverage within Russian economics framework.

MERLION is ranked as 33rd (+1 in comparison with the previous year) in Forbes’s rating of “TOP 200 private companies” (October 2007).

Forbes’s rating includes the companies whose shares are not available at stock market. Companies are rated by their receipts gained in 2006. The estimations are based on the data provided by the companies for Forbes in official way. The feature is that if in the previous year the first place was given to the company having annual receipt $210 million, this year only the companies whose annual receipts are at least $300 million are able to get the rating.

Forbes about MERLION: ”Only several years back the companies whose names told nothing to the customers were in the lead of Russian market of computer components. In 2004 four large-scale (but still not far-famed in the press) suppliers announced the creation of group under the common brand name of “MERLION”, the lion with fish tail, the emblem of Singapore. In 2006 this “see lion” got the retail network: MERLION began opening the computer hardware retail stores under the name of “POSITRONICA”.

In Finance’s rating of “TOP 500 Russian companies” (no. 36, September 24-30, 2007) company MERLION is ranked as 81st (+1 in comparison with the previous year). In the additional rating “+50 in shadow – the first-scale nonpublic private companies” MERLION takes 31st position.

The basic ranking index of the rating is the receipt, the most effective indicator of company’s business scale.
