OREANDA-NEWS. On October 05, 2007 JSC Tverskoy Express (a CJSC Transmashholding subsidiary) has evaluated the results of 1-year-long exploitation of the new №19/20 Megapolis train circulating between Moscow and St Petersburg, reported the press-centre of Transmashholding.

During the year the train transported over 200,000 passengers, its average occupancy rate being 83%.

“The passengers have highly appreciated the service quality and train comfort, said Alexander Chubarev, the JSC Tverskoy Express general director, Megapolis enjoys a good demand, and we have plans to cover the project within six years”.

It is noteworthy that the new № 19/20 Megapolis train was presented and launched at the Leningradsky Railway Station of Moscow early in October 2006. Megapolis is available on a daily basis, the departure from St Petersburg at 0:20, arrival in Moscow at 9:07, departure from Moscow at 0:45, arrival at St Petersburg at 9 sharp. The charges depend on the season, day, coach type and services included, varying from 1,400 to 5,000 roubles.

The train is made up of two MUs, 18 coaches each (4 SV-class, 12 - sleeping, 1 - staff, 1 - dining). Almost all coaches are manufactured by the Tver Carriage Works.

The first Megapolis birthday will bring pleasant surprises for the passengers, such as decorated doors, passages, saloon of the dining car. Every compartment table will have some greeting cards and champagne bottles on it. The birthday night trains will start accompanied by musical illustration.
