OREANDA-NEWS. October 8, 2007. The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry and Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications of Switzerland signed an agreement on automobile, lorries and passenger transport in Baku on 8 October.

The agreement will impact the development of transport relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland. The agreement envisages issues on frontier crossings, as well as tax duties for automobile transporters, the Azerbaijani Transport Minister, Zia Mammadov, said.

The Azerbaijani Minister assured that automobile transporters will efficiently use the agreement. A quota system will be used between the countries, and their exact number will be determined in the future.

Moris Leunberger, the head of the Federal Department, said the agreement signed between both countries will cause development of both sides.

“ Azerbaijan and Switzerland cooperate in different international organizations, and the agreement will positively affect cooperation in such an organization as the European conference of Transport Ministers,” Leunberger said.
