OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2007. Kaliningrad Railway (RZD branch) plans to realize a modernization program valued at RUR 33 billion till 2030. RZD will invest 45% of the value, while the rest of the sum will be invested by Kaliningrad region government and private persons. In 2007, Kaliningrad Railway plans to spend RUR 1.5 billion. The program’s priorities include construction of the northern track around Kaliningrad, completing of Chernyshevskoye station and development of approaches to the port of Baltijsk. Kaliningrad railway is one of the main transport routes of Kaliningrad region. The railway’s total working length is 963 kilometers. In 2006, it transported 19.14 billion tonnes of cargo.
